Approach notes are the first step and getting a jazz sound in your solos. They are fairly simple, but can also get very involved. In this video I go over the basics and then the not so very basic. Either way you will surely benefit by learning this technique. This opened up a whole new world to me when I wanted to step out front with my bass playing and solo with lines that made melodic sense
