During the Global Space Exploration Conference (GLEX) 2017 in Beijing, China unveiled its reusable launch vehicle conceptual plan for the first time, its latest development on the heavy rocket (Long March-9) and Long March-8, a new generation low-cost medium-sized launch vehicle. Lu Yu, director, Science and Technology Commission under China Academy of Launch Vehicle Technology, said that “the purpose of reuse is to reduce the cost”, Long March-8 could have its earliest launch in 2018 and that “the heavy rocket is planned to be launched between 2028 and 2030”.
