In the wee hours of the morning, a good night's rest should be the only concern. But the rude awakening of 100 mph winds and flying debris was on the minds of Eastern Shore residents Monday. Damaged rooftops, toppled trees, and homes reduced to lumber, proved the power of an EF-2 tornado. And it somehow, thankfully, it tallied only one minor injury. This serves as a sober reminder of Mother Nature's unbiased and unpredictable power. It is also reason to make sure your family is always prepared -- with an emergency plan, a meeting place, a weather radio and a fully charged cellphone. There's also the WBAL-TV weather app, as we do our part to help keep you safe. It will alert you to severe weather, and even has an interactive radar that will zoom in right down to your street. Use whatever tools you have at your disposal, to get out of the path of a looming weather emergency. Take the time to prepare your home and your family, and to remain safe if the weather takes another turn, especially in the middle of the night.
