✅ Hysteroscopy is the direct visualization of the uterine cavity that can be performed either in the office under local anesthesia or in more complex procedures in the operating room with some superficial sedation.
✅ It usually takes about 10 minutes for these diagnostic procedures, to 20-30 minutes when we must perform some complex surgical procedure. For example, to remove a polyp. Usually, in the case of anesthesia, patients can go home after recovering about two to three hours after the completion of the procedure. On that day it is recommended to perform a normal activity at home, while the next day they can return to their daily activity as they did before the procedure without any contraindication or limitation.
✅ The hysteroscopy is performed with the main instrument called an optic which is this instrument that you see here that is between 3 to 5 millimeters in diameter and about 20 to 30 centimeters in length.
✅ This optic allows us to enter through the vagina and then enter through the cervix and finally access the endometrial cavity where we can see the entire surface and eventually diagnose, under direct vision, any type of pathology that is in the same uterine cavity, at the other end we find an adapter to connect the light source whose light is transmitted to the end of the optic and to connect the camera.
✅ This camera will allow us to reproduce the image produced at this end of the optics on an external monitor, which will help us to perform the surgical procedure with much greater precision and comfort for us. As you can see here you can see the uterine cavity with the two Ostia, the two orifices that communicate the endometrial cavity with the fallopian tubes on each side and this is a totally normal view.
✅ Here, on the other hand, we can see for example a polyp in the endometrium which is one of the most frequent findings and allows through small instruments that we can proceed to its removal, both polyps, and myomas, or take a directed biopsy in places where for example we suspect a tumor in the endometrium.
