Hearing about the importance of a bedtime routine can be overwhelming if you currently don’t have one! Let me ease your mind. A bedtime routine is simply a series of activites that stay the same every day. It can be as short or long as works for your family, and it can include whatever you want it to!
Want to just read a book before bed every night and call it a routine? That’s great if it works for your family!
Our routine looks like this:
🌮Dinner
🧼Bath
👕pick out pajamas
📖pick out books and read
🪥brush teeth
🧗climb the stairs
🛏sleep sack and bed!
Of course, if you do not currently have a consistent routine and this works for you, that’s no problem! If you do not have a routine and have power struggles, anxiety and unwanted behaviors in the evening, a routine may be worth considering!
