There is evidence that the defendant surnamed Ko violated terms in the Oath Act wherein as mayor he had sworn to abide by national laws and not take bribes. After the crime, the defendant was found to have shredded notepads containing instructions for accomplices to depart the country as well as to check the accounts of MuKo Public Relations. The defendant has concealed unlawful gains for Core Pacific City Company and Ding Yue Development Company of up to some NT$12.1 billion.
In addition to the Core Pacific City case, prosecutors believe that Ko and his 2024 election campaign office finance chief Lee Wen-tsung were liable for embezzling NT$8.27 million from a charity foundation established by Ko, to remunerate staff at his election campaign office. The former Taipei mayor’s legal battle has officially begun.
