galleryIntell talked to Michael Rosenfeld about the history of abstraction in African American art.
This portion of the three-part interview focuses on the language of abstraction in Beauford Delaney's, Alma Thomas' Charles Alston's and others' art. We discussed the collectability of African American Modern artists as compared to the better known Abstract Expressionists like Jackson Pollock, Mark Rothko and Willem de Kooning. And in the last part of the segment we talked to Michael about collecting trends and whether young collectors gravitated towards their contemporaries or preferred to focus on the first generation of abstract artists.
This is part two of the full interview.
