ChatGPT, your PhD literature review, integrity, and ethics. Can you use those words in the same sentence as a doctoral student and not get the ick?!
Yes, you can! In this video, I'm going to share three ethical ChatGPT prompts with you, which enable you to stay in integrity while tackling common literature review problems and saving time.
However, before we continue - you should always, ALWAYS check the AI policy at your institution before using ChatGPT or any other AI tool to help you with your PhD. That policy supersedes any advice you receive outside of your institution, including the advice I share on this channel. So, before implementing any of the strategies in this video, check your institution's AI policy so you know what's acceptable and what's not acceptable, okay?
With that out of the way, let me tell you about the three prompts I share in this video.
The first one is all about writing concisely. PhD students have a tendency to waffle and ramble, especially in their literature reviews. This prompt will equip you with some important information to help you stop the waffle and write clearly and directly.
The second prompt will help you with your literature review structure. If your literature review is a mess, and your content is all over the place, this ChatGPT prompt will help you get organised and start seeing the clear, logical shape that your chapter will eventually take.
Last but not least, I share a prompt about staying focused. If your literature review has gone off on a tangent about something kind of related but not massively relevant, you need to have this ChatGPT prompt up your sleeve.
Let me know your questions in the comments; it would be great to hear how you're using ChatGPT ethically for your doctoral research project!
