Timmy Paulokaleioku Bailey was born and raised in Kula, Maui. A Native Hawaiian farmer and fisherman, Bailey began his career with the National Park Service at Haleakalā National Park in 1991 in the Park’s resource management division, controlling non-native species and managing, surveying, and protecting native and endangered species. He is currently the program manager for the Feral Animal Removal and Management team, responsible for maintaining over 70 miles of fence line that protect 24,000 acres of Congressionally-designated wilderness. These fences keep feral ungulates out of the Park, which is home to critically endangered species found nowhere else on earth.
