NOW SOLD - This is rare. We are pleased to offer for sale for the first time since 1988 this simply stunning BMW E23 7 Series saloon. There are very few of these early 7 Series cars still roadworthy today and I would wage that this is one of the very finest available in every respect.
Offering the latest technology and fabulous refinement for the period, the flagship 7 Series was available with a range of engines, transmissions and trim levels.
Our car, registered in August 1986 and supplied by Wheatley Hall BMW of Doncaster, is a 6 cylinder fuel injected 728i fitted with 4 speed automatic transmission. Being a 7 Series the specification was obviously quite grand but this entry level car was ordered with some factory options more often seen in the more expensive higher specification cars.
Finished in timeless Bronze Beige metallic paintwork with a light Pearl Beige tufted cloth interior the car still presents beautifully both inside and out. There is no corrosion to the car and all the body panels are original - the underside is in superb condition having been waxed from new and the original engine bay is very, very clean. All the chromework and outer trims are in near new condition. Inside the car, the seats, dashboard and walnut trim all look like new. The carpets are the same being covered from new with BMW carpet overmats. The original supplying dealer registration plates and rear window sticker still adorn the car.
The aforementioned options and features of this car include 14" alloy wheels with locking wheel bolts, ABS braking system, the BMW Intensive Cleaning System with headlamp wash wipe and heated washer jets, twin electric door mirrors, electric slide/tilt sunroof, electric rear windows, radio cassette with electric aerial, BMW Active Check Control, BMW On Board Computer, twin front seat armrests and a first aid kit (unused) fitted to the rear seat armrest.
If all of this reads well so far, let me continue. The second owners of this super car can only be described as perfectionists. Since purchasing the car in 1988, when the car was just two years old, the service history was maintained right up to 71,300 miles with the original service book containing 26 service stamps, with 17 of these being carried out by the original supplying dealer and a further 6 Astle BMW stamps. There is a large folder full of invoices and no less than 22 MOT certificates up to 2016, when the car was last used. It may be worthy of mention that the car was owned by a fastiduous member of the BMW Car Club and the car was a regular winner of BMW Concours events with judging sheets still within the history file. Other nice memorabilia with the car include an original sales brochure, colour chart and framed press advertisement.
Since being unused for a few years, the car is currently in our workshop having a well deserved light recommissioning. We have serviced the car, changed the fluids and addressed a couple of items which were advisory at the last MOT carried out in 2016. We have fitted a new pair of front shock absorber inserts and replaced the n/s strutt top mounting due to a corroded bearing race, these original equipment items came direct from BMW in Germany as did the hydraulic oil pipes fitted along the front cross member. The rear anti roll bar links were also replaced.
There are a couple of extra minor jobs we have found that need attending to which we have found since the road test which will be sorted soon but, at last, the car is available for viewing by appointment.
