PILOTING MAGELLAN STRAIT / A TOURIST DESTINATION / LIFE AT SEA / SHIP VLOGS/ VLOG 37
After avoiding a storm, we finally arrived in Magellan Strait and began our transit bound for Brazilian Ports.
Our ship was handled by 2 channel pilots. Both were working on shifts round the clock. With them on the Bridge/Navigation Room is the Watch officer and Helmsman.
On the other hand, the Engine team is on duty as well round the clock. All machineries are working to avoid blackout and power failure. This is a critical and highly sensitive area so we leave no room for error.
The Captain is available 24hrs and is on the Bridge when passing the shallow waters and narrow passages along the strait.
This is how professionals at sea work on a common goal which is SAFETY.
