In the early years of the NBA 3-Point Shootout, the first round featured two shooters competing at the same time on opposite ends of the floor. This was not a direct head-to-head matchup. One's cumulative score among the entire field of eight remained the sole means of advancement.
Here, Dana Barros scored just nine first round points, finishing tied for last, his worst showing in four shootout appearances. Barros' shootout career peaked the year prior when he finished as a runner-up to Mark Price.
Note: If you watch closely, it appears that Barros scored 15 points, though he's only attributed 9. Not quite sure what was going on there.
Scott Burrell, meanwhile, fell just two points shy of advancing to the final round in his only shootout appearance. His full performance can be seen here: [ Ссылка ]
