Arvindswamy doing journalism in Bombay visits his village and falls in love with Manisha Koirala, a muslim girl. In the face of severe opposition from tradition bound parents they flee from their village to Bombay. They lead a happy married life in Bombay with their twin children. Seven years later, Bombay is rocked by communal riots. The two liitle boys are caught in the frenzy. What the family and the city endures through this hellish ordeal is 'Bombay'
