Operation Barbarossa was and is the largest military invasion in human history. Seeking to annihilate the Soviet Union and enslave or exterminate its people, the Nazi armies and her allies marched eastward on June 22nd, achieving remarkable early successes. However, as the Soviets reorganised and adapted, the German onslaught started to waver, and the Nazis found themselves perilously close to the capital, but ultimately out of its grasp. This video details the length of the operation and the factors that ultimately lead to German failure and Soviet triumph.
