This is about the making of a Shaker style ash desk (or table) which I made in late 2015. I chose Ash wood because I have used it before and it has some underrated beautiful grain, it's reasonable to work and not too expensive compared to other hardwoods. I used a combination of hand tools and power/machine tools. The rails and legs are constructed using mortise and tenons. Traditional buttons are used to attach the top to the rails to allow for wood movement. It was a fun and relatively quick project to make.
