‘I am not the mask police’ — This Ohio sheriff is refusing to enforce the governor’s mask mandate.

In US news and current events today, Richard Jones is the sheriff in Butler County, OH. Governor Mike DeWine said his county, along with 6 others, are considered ‘very high risk’ for the coronavirus. Despite the governor’s mask mandate, Sheriff Jones says it’s not his responsibility to enforce the order. The order issued called for people to wear masks in all indoor locations and outside when physical distancing isn’t possible. Local news outlet WCMH reported that people in high risk counties who don’t adhere to the mandate could face a misdemeanor charge.
