To pursue a career in medicine and dentistry, the prerequisite is to pass the MDCAT and the applicant is
to have prior knowledge, both theoretical and practical application of biological sciences at a higher
secondary level. The MDCAT 2021 syllabus had a 32% weightage assigned to Biology highlighting the
importance of the subject to be eligible for pursuing a medical and dental degree.
The dataset depicts the highest scores achieved in Biology and highlights the standard of higher
secondary education and the overall performance of students across Pakistan. The MDCAT questions
were framed in a manner whereby the applicant was expected to apply the concepts learned rather than
relying on memorised content
