In this episode of our SoftDrop Masterclass, Rosco's Phil Greenstreet and Sarah Horton provide helpful tips and advice on how to light a SoftDrop. They also brought in two cinematographers to help them: Andac Karabeyoglu from Berlin and Louis-Phillippe Capelle from Brussels.
The video showcases techniques for front and rear lighting of a SoftDrop in order to achieve daytime and nighttime effects, as well as sunset/sunrise and moon effects. Two of the lights featured in the video are DMG Lumière by Rosco SL1 MIX® fixtures:

One of the most interesting things to notice in this video is how few lights the crew used to light the drop. Because Rosco SoftDrops are printed onto cotton, it takes significantly less light to properly illuminate a SoftDrop than it does a vinyl drop. Phil and Sarah discuss these benefits noting that a production needs fewer fixtures, less power, fewer cables and less time to light a SoftDrop - which can mean big savings to a production's bottom line.
