Uttar Pradesh (UP) Election Results 2024 LIVE: Initial trends indicate that India Bloc, comprising Samajwadi Party and Congress, is making big gains in Uttar Pradesh where the BJP won over 60 seats in 2019 Lok Sabha election. The Bharatiya Janata Party-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) is likely to win 68-71 seats in Uttar Pradesh, according to News18 Mega Exit Poll prediction. The BJP may win 64-67 seats, according to the poll survey.
The Congress-led Indian National Developmental Inclusive Alliance (INDIA) is likely to win nine-12 seats, according to the survey. Of these, the Congress may win three-six, the survey states.
Uttar Pradesh is the biggest state with 80 Parliamentary seats. The fight in the state was between the BJP-led NDA, the INDIA bloc with Congress and Samajwadi Party, and the Mayawati-led Bahujan Samaj Party (BJP).
Among the key candidates in the 2024 polls are Narendra Modi (BJP, Varanasi), Dinesh Lal Yadav ‘Nirahua’ (BJP, Azamgarh), Dimple Yadav (SP, Mainpuri), Akhilesh Yadav (SP, Kannauj), Rahul Gandhi (Congress, Raebareli), Arun Govil (BJP, Meerut), Hema Malini (BJP, Mathura), Rajnath Singh (BJP, Lucknow), Smriti Irani (BJP, Amethi). Other notable candidates include Maneka Gandhi (BJP, Sultanpur), Ravi Kishan (BJP, Gorakhpur), Afzal Ansari (SP, Ghazipur), KL Sharma (Congress, Amethi), Dharmendra Yadav (SP, Azamgarh), Sakshi Maharaj (BJP, Unnao).
Uttar Pradesh voted in seven phases between April 19 and June 1. The state saw a total voter turnout of 56.92 per cent.
