Ghulam Nabi Azad, Congress, leader of Opposition in Rajya Sabha on Thursday compared the demonetisation drive to the Uri terror attacks. Speaking in the Rajya sabha, Azad said that the Pakistani terrorists did not kill half the people in Uri than the number of people who have been dead due to the government’s “wrong” policy. Azad also demanded the presence of Prime Minister Narendra Modi in the parliament and said that they would not let the house function unless the PM comes.
Meanwhile, BJP Venkaiah Naidu demanded that Ghulam Nabi Azad should apologise for his statement. He said that as the leader of Opposition, Azad cannot just insult the nation by making such remarks and compare the demonetisation drive with Pakistani terrorists. In response to which, Azad said that the BJP leaders attend marriages and functions in Pakistani and lay out ‘red carpets’ for them and hence should not tell this to the opposition.
