The Canon R5 has a 4K HQ mode that takes a downsampling image from the 8K sensor, and naturally you would think that the files are larger than the normal 4K mode. On the last project we did there was one scene we forgot to use the HQ mode, but I realize that there's no file size difference when compared to the HQ mode. I decided to do a comparison test alongside the 1.3 firmware update with the new IPB light mode. The file size turned out to be very comparable at around 10-20% increase. With overheating taken into account, I would recommend turning on the HQ mode for most situations to squeeze the extra quality in.
