Spanish archaeologists have successfully raised a 2,600-year-old Phoenician shipwreck, known as Mazarrón II, from the seabed off the coast of Murcia. This remarkably well-preserved wreck, dating back to the 7th century B.C.E., is one of few intact Phoenician vessels ever discovered, offering invaluable insights into ancient shipbuilding techniques and Phoenician maritime culture. The excavation and conservation process, a collaborative effort involving the University of Valencia and the regional culture ministry, is expected to take several years. The recovered artifacts will help researchers understand the Phoenicians' naval technology and trade networks.
