John 15:1-8
Jesus is the true Vine. God the Father is the Vinedresser. The followers (Church) of Christ are the Branches. Verse 5, Apart from Christ you can do nothing. In Christ, the true Vine, we can bear much fruit (Gal. 5:22-23, fruit of the Spirit). The Vinedresser prunes the branches that bear fruit so they can bear more fruit. He cuts away the branches that are not bearing fruit and they dry up and are cast into the fire (hell). Abide in Christ and His word which has a cleansing effect upon our soul.
