In December of 2016, I was finally able to get to the Children's Island in Alexander Park, Tsarskoe Selo. In summer, you need some sort of a vessel to get there across the canal, but in winter, the canals are frozen solid, and you can just walk across, which is just what I did!
Please join me in touring this little island, built in the 19th century by Nicholas I for his children. You will see the Children's Playhouse up close, walk all the way around it and see the back, as well as look at the graves of the imperial pets like Voron, Iman and Ayra. You will also get the unique view from the Children's Island bridge, from the island on to the Alexander Palace , the angle from which we see most photos of the imperial children posing there.
