In this video, I share why I believe Belgrade, Serbia, is one of the safest cities in the world for solo female travelers, expats, and families.
✨ Key Topics Covered:
1. Friendly Locals & Accessible City
Belgrade offers free Wi-Fi in many areas and convenient spots to charge your phone. Locals are approachable, speak English, and are always willing to help if you're in need.
2. Family-Friendly Design
The city is built with families in mind, featuring wide sidewalks, bike lanes, playgrounds, and crosswalks. It's a great place for kids to play safely and for parents to enjoy a stress-free environment.
3. Safe for Black Women & No Racism
As a Black woman, I've experienced kindness and respect in Belgrade. There's no anti-Blackness, and people are polite and non-intrusive, offering a refreshing contrast to experiences in some other countries.
4. No Catcalling or Harassment
Women can walk, jog, and run errands without fear of being harassed. The cultural norm here is respect and personal space, making it a haven for solo women.
5. Overall Safety
While debates about safety exist, my personal experience has been overwhelmingly positive. Of course, having street smarts is always important, but Belgrade offers a secure and welcoming atmosphere.
