3. SOUNDBITE: (French) Cardinal Jean-Marie Lustiger, Archbishop of Paris:
+++Audio as Incoming+++
"Of course, the announcement as it was done, has shown how much people in the world are attached to this Pope, and sensible to his state of health. The latest news - I don't have any more than what has been communicated by the press - shows that there is no specific concern at the moment. This is a medically explicable accident, that the Pope will overcome. But my question is as follows: I've seen the Pope recently, two times one-on-one. I was very surprised about his presence of mind when he was asking me questions, remembering perfectly not only the diocese of Paris but also remembering perfectly ongoing problems, questions raised and able to decide and give his opinion on things that seemed important to him."

STORYLINE:
Catholics around the world prayed on Thursday for the health of Pope John Paul ll who remains in hospital in Rome.
The 84-year-old pontiff was rushed to a Rome hospital on Tuesday with breathing problems brought on by the flu, but was responding well to treatment on Thursday, according to the Vatican.
Hundreds of people attended a special mass for the Pope held by Cardinal Jean-Marie Lustiger, Archbishop of Paris, in the Notre-Dame cathedral of Paris on Thursday evening.
The archbishop, a Jewish convert to Roman Catholicism, served as the pope's special envoy to the commemoration ceremonies last week for the 60th anniversary of the liberation of Auschwitz.
Catholics also prayed at the Basílica Nacional de Lujan - Argentina's main Catholic religious centre.
Lujan, which is 65 kilometres (40 miles) east of the capital Buenos Aires, is the home of the Virgin of Lujan, the patron of Argentina.
Outside the church, a plaque commemorates John Paul's visit to Argentina in June 1982.
Catholic churches all over Argentina have been calling on the faithful to pray for the Pope since he was taken into hospital on Tuesday night.
