Wildlife killing contests are unsporting events where people attempt to kill large numbers of animals in a few short days. Winners get cash and prizes—totaling tens of thousands of dollars, in some cases—for killing as many animals as possible.
The contests often target native carnivores like foxes, bobcats, and coyotes, which are important species that play a critical role in healthy ecosystems. The events do not serve any legitimate wildlife management purpose and simply make a game of killing animals.
We must stop these inhumane contests and pass a federal ban on killing contests. No animal should be killed for prizes or bragging rights. Help us make wildlife killing contests an activity of the past.
