The fourth largest city of the United Arab Emirates, just within 2 hours drive from Abu Dhabi and Dubai is definitely overlooked by tourists! I spent a day in the deserted interior of UAE - in the oasis city of Al Ain. During this trip I have admired a local traditional Al Jahili Fort, explored Palace Museum (a home of a former UAE President Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan), walked around a massive camel market and enjoyed the panoramic view of the city (and even Oman) from the top of the second largest mountain in the country - Jebel Hafeet.
Due to its historical significance and unique nature it’s recognized by UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2011.
