As per the liner notes, “A South African-recorded version of an overseas hit would sometimes beat the local release date of the original recording, spoiling the local market for the foreign hit eventually became available. Such was the case with ‘Rebel Rouser’, as recorded by a Dan Hill-produced session band, which effectively killed the demand for Duane Eddy’s US hit original with local record buyers. Dan himself is the sax player and the pennywhistle chorus adds a distinctive South African touch”
