This clip shows how the management of the OAS, Col. Rodin, and his associates consider their next steps after their failure to assassinate French President Charles de Gaulle. They decide it is time to hire a professional assassin.

They decide on an Englishman who has been successful in other endeavors. Then the clip shows their interview with their candidate and then their eventual hiring of "The Jackal." In history, The Jackal is none other than Jean Souetre, a Belgian assassin who was later arrested by the FBI on November 22, 1963, in Dallas, Texas. The FBI opts to have Mr. Souetre deported to Mexico City, Mexico rather than to charge him for any crime.
