Actually this is the tomb of Emperor of Hind Saleem Noor-u-din Jahangir. Unfortunately Saleem Noor-u-din Jahangir was buried into two graves after by tearing it apart on the order of Mahar-u-Nisa alias Malka Noor Jahan. One grave is in the Baghsar fort in Kashmir while the second grave is in this tomb. Emperor Saleem Noor-u-din Jahangir was the son of Emperor Jalal-u-Din Akbar which is called “Sheikhu” with affection. Today the city of Punjab Sheikhupura is settled on his name. Saleem Noor-u-din Jahangir was born on 1569 in Fatehpur Sikri India and was died in 1627 in Kashmir at the age of 58 years. He was buried in Dilkusha Garden Shahdra Lahore according to his will. Dilkusha Garden Shahdara was constructed by Nawab Mehdi in 1556. Queen Noor Jahan constructed this splendid tomb after the death of King Jahangir and after 10 years it was completed by Emperor Shah Jahan in 1637. This construction of this tomb was completed at a cost of 1 Millon rupees at that time. The design of this tomb is same the tomb of Mirza Ghias Baig situated in Agra India because these two tombs were constructed by Queen of Hindustan Malka Noor Jahan. Jahangir remained enthroned for 22 years and Tuzk-e-Jahangiri book was his creation. Sheikhupura Fort and Hiran Minar were his remarkable construction. The total area of the tomb of Jahangir is 100 acres there were four old wells which have been eliminated from which one is remain now. After the death of Emperor Jahangir, Noor Jahan came on this tomb daily and schlors recited Holy Quran daily on this tomb. This is the world expensive tomb. The grave of this tomb is made of marble and beautiful painting is made on this marble. The embroidery from Agate, Neelam, Coral and some other precious stones have been done. The use of marble and sang-e- abri are seen on this tomb mostly. In 18th century Maharaja Ranjit Singh damaged this tomb aplenty. In Sikh Era, the precious stones of this tomb had stolen to decorate Golden Temple in India. In Sikh Era, Mosques, Tombs and Graveyards had also been looted. In 1890 the English renovated this tomb and in 1993 this tomb was included in the list of World Culture Heritage of UNESCO. Noor Jahan also constructed a beautiful Mosque here. Akbari Sarai and Dak Banglow are also situated here. This tomb was constructed on a high stage and four towers of five floors were also constructed here. 61 stairs are present inside these towers. In rain these towers look like dancing. I hope you will like and enjoy this video.
