Winter liners and balaclavas are commonly misunderstood or misrepresented as flame resistant. Often constructed of polyester with a topical "single wash" treatment believed or reported to be FR, this treatment will only help the product self-extinguish after the flame source is removed. As long as flame is present, polyester will melt, drip and burn.
