We gather for a special evening service to celebrate the joy of Christmas in the birth of Jesus. He is the divine Son of God who for our salvation became a human being. He is Immanuel, God with us. God’s good news tonight is for all nations, all peoples, all who believe. The angelic announcement to shepherds on the evening of the first Christmas still applies today: “Fear not, for behold, I bring you good news of great joy that will be for all the people” (Luke 2:10). The angelic chorus still causes our hearts to sing: “Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace among those with whom he is pleased!” (Luke 2:14). We will hear God’s Word in several of the native languages spoken at Kenwood to celebrate the gospel for all peoples and nations. Jesus Christ, the light of the world, has come!
