Since he started at CES in 2009, John has been promoting evidence informed policy and practice in child, family and community services by connecting the design and delivery of services with the scientific and technical knowledge of what works. His principal areas of responsibility are for work with young people and with people in communities. John is currently the Chairperson of the European Commission's thematic expert group on promoting young peoples' creativity and innovation through non-formal and informal learning.
