The State government is making all efforts to make farmers free of loans by adopting a multi-pronged approach, Agriculture Minister Pocharam Srinivas Reddy said on Friday.
Replying to a short discussion on ‘Crop Loan Waiver, Minimum Support Price and Agricultural Allied Matters’ in the Legislative Council, Reddy said Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao has chalked out a comprehensive plan to make the sector stronger through six steps – supplying uninterrupted free quality power, water for irrigating one crore acre of land, technical support to improve productivity, reducing investment and providing Minimum Support Price (MSP). “Once this approach is applied, farmers can taste success on their own and would not be at the mercy of bankers and financial institutions,” he said .
