Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) is a developmental disability that can affect that way people behave, communicate and learn. Symptoms vary widely but can include restricted interests, repetitive behaviors, delayed language development, resistance to change, difficulty understanding other people's feelings, and intense reactions to sounds or textures. Researchers at UCLA Neurology aim to improve the lives of individuals with severe, rare forms of Autism Spectrum Disorder by developing new therapies and providing expert clinical care.
Autism Spectrum Disorder can range in behavior
and severity. Because of this, Dr. Geschwind is
working to approach research and treatment
through precision medicine.
Precision medicine tailors treatment
to the individual, taking into account
their genetics and lifestyle.
