This outdoor terracotta tile patio is damaged from improper maintenance and was not sealed correctly upon installation. The result is you have flaking, chipping, and deterioration of the terracotta tile down past its hard surface and into the soft clay. This creates a breeding ground for mold, algae, calcium, and efflorescence. The tiles are pretty hard to bring back to life once all this happens but luckily for our customer, he only had a few damaged, flaking terracotta tiles.

To remove the efflorescence we used an acid and some good old fashioned elbow grease with an abrasive pad and brought the tiles back to life.

Lastly we sealed with a enhancer to increase the natural color and depth of the terracotta saltillo tiles.
