Associate Principal Trumpet Paul Goodchild's ears pricked up when he heard the Orchestra would be visiting the Terracotta Warriors on the SSO's 2014 China tour. The Warriors were buried with China's first emperor, Qin Shi Huang, to protect him in the afterlife. A short bus ride from the city of Xi'an, where the SSO played its fourth concert, the army certainly lives up to Paul's expectations when we visited them on our day off on 30 June.
