in this episode of Engines of the Pere Marquette, I'll be discussing the railroad's consolidation types. The railroad had a total of 167 of these in 11 batches built from 1901 to 1911, though only 165 were in service at once. This made the 2-8-0 the most mass-produced wheel arrangement in the PM fleet. They were also the oldest PM locomotives to both survive into the Chesapeake and Ohio merger, and operate with the C&O. And finally, they were the railroad's first locomotives to have super heaters and were most powerful locomotives in the fleet until the arrival of the MK-class Mikados in 1913.
