These Vanilla Cream Sun buns are like doughnuts with vanilla cream custard. Maybe almost like the trending doughnut with leche flan (caramel custard) in the middle but the custard is not as firm as leche flan. And these are baked instead of fried. An instant favorite among family and friends.

Dough
2 ½ teaspoons instant dry yeast
1 cup (225 milliliters) whole milk, lukewarm
1 egg
¼ cup plus 3 tablespoons (100 grams) unsalted butter, room temperature
½ teaspoon salt
¼ cup plus 2 tablespoons (75 grams) white sugar
2 teaspoons vanilla bean paste or vanilla essence
3 cups plus 2 tablespoons (500 grams) bread flour
About a cup of vanilla cream patissiere (vanilla pastry cream)

2 tablespoons (28 grams) melted butter
6 tablespoons (75 grams) white sugar
Note: Every oven is different. Heat may vary depending on your oven calibration and sometimes location is also a factor. If you already know your oven well, you may adjust oven temperature from 200°C to 210°C. When I made these buns, it was 10°C outside and baked them at 200°C for 10minutes.
