On a warm and sunny 28th May 2016 Steam Dreams ran "The Cathedrals Express" from London Paddington to Salisbury instead of the scheduled tour to Bristol, due to essential engineering work in the Bristol area, The train ran down "The Berks and Hants" route to Westbury stopping for water at Newbury Racecourse and then to Salisbury. Later in the afternoon a round trip from Salisbury via Romsey, Southampton and Eastleigh and back to Salisbury as 1Z82. The train then ran as 1Z62 back to London Paddington via Andover, Basingstoke and Reading. The famous "Flying Scotsman" LNER A3 Class 4-6-2 number 60103 was in charge for the day with occasional assistance provided by Stratford 47 Group's 47580 "County of Essex". I captured the days outing firstly at Beaulieu Road Footbridge in Eastleigh just short of 1Z82's brief stop at signal E97 (Protection for the single line ahead) and then a rather shaky capture at Chandler's Ford station from the station over bridge. After a meal at Burger King and a stroll up the rarely empty M3 motorway into Basingstoke I caught the train now running as 1Z62 departing the station around half an hour down due to some line side fires in the Salisbury area, this time mingling with the crowd of spectators lined up against the car park fence. This same circular tour was taken the Saturday before. The next outing for 60103 is on this coming Wednesday with "The Belmond".
