Australia's bushfire crisis has burnt millions of hectares of bush and forest destroying the habitats of billions of animals.
Professor Chris Dickman, an expert in Australian wildlife at the University of Sydney, estimates more than a billion animals could die as a result. While some species are likely already extinct.
