I used:

Soldering Iron - 15W
Spare Wiring - 24 gauge
Solder - Rosin Core
Potentiometer

The voltage from the white power supply wire is about 3.3v. I am not sure how many ohms the pot is, but not over 200k. Its probably under 100k. Hope I help you mod your ps3! I do not take responsibility for any problems that may occur, of break. Be smart and just know what to do! :)
