The iconic and accredited historical Jackson Homestead Museum is located in the harmonious village of Newton Corner. This Federal style Museum has a unique feature of having a stop of the underground railway even before the Civil War. It is also known for it's extra ordinary display of all-year exhibits related to Newton’s history.

The village of Newton Corner is the first village of Newton with some interesting things to do. Settled in the early 16th century , the village evolved into multiple farms along with a small cluster of homes and shops that were meant to provide supplies to the farmers. By the early 18th century railroad was brought to the village which changed the fate of the area with one of it's stop going through the museum. 

Famous for it's family friendly activities, the museum offers multiple programs for groups and local adults. The museum collaborates with local schools for historical field trips and different social organizations that spread awareness on historical culture. To give the younger children a review of their own roots the Museum holds annual house tour, International Harmony Day and an exclusive Sunday which is dedicated to children.  It is also available on rent for various holiday and official events.

Newton is home to multiple museums but the classic 1809 Jackson Homestead Museum stands out because of its purpose to instigate interest and engagement through enlightening the community about the American history. Over the past hundreds of years, it is evident that people who are well informed of their roots help shape up a stable and compassionate society. The museum expects to create a long-lasting positive impact on the community to aid in social improvement. The museum has an exhibit in the basement which tells the history of slavery and anti-slavery times.

The historical programs developed for adults such as “Tea and Revolution” focuses upon a liberal thought on how the role of consumer habits shaped up the mental framework of freedom.  “Memories to hands down” offers interactive workshop to explore historical memoirs and write down your own personal memories.

The Jackson Homestead Museum was a personal property of the Jackson family until 1949 however, Frances Middendorf who was a descendant from the Jackson's gave away the Homestead in care of the City of Newton. The museum accepts donations in order to continue its noble mission.
