The Karnataka High Court today transferred the petition challenging ban on hijab in college to a larger bench.
“These matters give rise to certain constitutional questions of seminal importance in view of certain aspects of personal law,” Justice Krishna Dixit said.
Earlier, heated arguments were witnessed between the government's counsel and the petitioners who had challenged the Basavaraj Bommai government's February 5 order prohibiting ban on any headscarf other than the prescribed uniform.
