(20 Aug 2019) Dozens of refugees from various countries have protested outside the UNHCR office in Jakarta to ask for help to get to their destination countries.
The refugees from countries such as Afghanistan, Iraq, Iran, Sudan and others have been in Indonesia for years and say that the UN agency is not processing their resettlement claims fast enough.
Some refugees say they no longer care which country they go to, as long as they can find a new place to work and build a good life for their families.
Thousands of refugees are scattered throughout Indonesia, stranded with some hoping to make their way to Australia.
