Ballincollig castle is a Norman castle dating back to the 13th century. In 1458 the castle was bought by the Barretts from a knight Robert Coil, it was a stronghold for the Barretts up until the 17th century, and then in 1630 the castle was sold to Sir Walter Copinger in 1644 it was taken by Cromwell's forces and around 1689 it was garrisoned for James 2nd. But after 1690 it was unused and fell into disrepair. The castle was repaired in 1857 by the Wyse family who inserted their coat of arms with the monogram W in the east wall. The castle has a very narrow staircase that leads to other stories all of which have stone floors.. It has been said that the Castle is haunted by a ghost named Brian👻👻👻👻👻👻boo. Enjoy the video
