Immunohistochemistry (IHC) is a common laboratory test used to diagnose cancer. IHC utilizes modified antibodies that recognize and bind to specific proteins in and on the cell. Pathologists use these antibodies to “stain” specific proteins on the tissue biopsied from a tumor.
