Screening for SLDs helps faculty develop an understanding of what the main barriers to learning are for a student presenting with learning difficulties. Through this process, they also become aware of how and when the student experiences success in the learning environment.
There should be provisions for adults, particularly young adults entering college, to be screened for dyslexia. As everyone views this disability subjectively, a discussion with all stakeholders should be held at the beginning of the academic year so everyone aligns toward a common goal of aiding children with SLDs, in their best capacities. It is especially important to engage with parents and educate them on how to support dyslexic children through their journey.
Dr Sally Shaywitz from Yale University explains more in this clip from our Dyslexic Mind Webinar in collaboration with @AshokaUniversity.
