A Murray-Latta double was installed here in 1968 to provide access to a new expansion, on Shuksan Arm, known as Chair 4. A Riblet double was installed alongside the lift in 1974, to provide additional capacity to the popular area. This lift would be called Chair 5. After Riblet installed their last lift at Mt. Baker in 2001, Chair 2, the ski area chose Doppelmayr CTEC for their first modern lift. Chair 5, the Doppelmayr CTEC lift, a quad chair, replaced Chair 4 and Chair 5 on the same alignment, essentially keeping the same capacity. It is still the highest capacity lift at Mt. Baker, along with Chair 7, which both have 2000 PPH. The custom drive was built to match Chair 6, a 1976 Riblet at the time. The paint color is unique to this lift only, as all other chairs have their terminals painted black, with Chair 7 painted grey. Chair 5 is the only lift to access the White Salmon side of the mountain, while both Chair 6 and Chair 4 bring people to Heather Meadows, so this lift gets the longest lines.
